Not A World Radio Receiver

I was looking forward to this one almost as much as the Grebe. An obscure World Radio Receiver circa 1925 out of Boston, Mass. Boston is only a 4 hour drive from here. It would have been the big city nexus for Vermont radio afficianados in the 1920's. The original nameplate on the front panel beckoned. But once I got to open it up and look it over it seems to me what we have here is a homemade kluge.

I'd say that originaly the receiver was homebrewed with FADA parts. The chassis layout is very close to a FADA 160.

But the terminal block on the back is obviously homemade. At some point the audio transformer was replaced. You can see the imprint of the original one with the unused screw holes.

BadWood AddedTag

My guess is that at some point in the last 25 years someone took the chassis and clunked it into the poorly restored and refinished World Radio cabinet. Screwed the World Radio metal tag into a convenient open space on the front panel and sold it as a World Radio original.

So, I gain a boxful of nice FADA parts and the cabinet goes into the attic for future projects. Or if anyone needs a proper World Radio cabinet for their proper World Radio chassis.
