Provenance

I picked this one up at the Sussex County ARC hamfest in northern New Jersey last summer. The guy was just setting up, getting his stuff unloaded from a truck. It was sitting on his 4 x 8 foot plywood table. All Alone, ugly, smelly, unloved.

I'd rescued a single RA unit from Craigslist a few months before and I was totally intrigued with the fact that these were really the FIRST commercialy produced radios available to the public in 1921. Specifically made to coincide with the first regular broadcasts from KDKA in Pittsburgh.

It was literally a mouse hotel. My cat came up to the shack and went nuts with the huge pile of mouse scraps I'd piled up in the waste basket. It's got 3 very cool brass based WD-11 and WD-12 triodes manufactured by Westinghouse in it. But this is going to be a piece of work. A total teardown to get it cleaned up. A long haul that hopefully does not become a slog.
