CAPTIVE IN COVENTRY

Reports from behind the lines in the Coventry 'Green-Zone'

Day 1 - Wednesday
Day 2 - Thursday
Day 3 - Friday
Day 4 - Saturday

Greetings from behind the lines.

EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AUG 15:

We've got a new and unannounced Park and Walk
customer this morning. A fourth vehicle, this one
from Massachusetts appeared magically along side
the driveway last night.

Then 30 minutes later we noticed that
Emma from Burlington was gone. Right after
that a pickup truck from NH stops half way
up the driveway, waves and turns around as
I come out the door. It would seem that there
are a lot of people looking to find a way IN
Green Zone or no Green Zone.

2 kids from Plattsburgh show up at the front door.
They almost tear out of here when they see me come out.
Very nervous. 'Sorry sir, good morning sir'. I give them
the spiel. 'You got tickets?' 'Er uh yeah we got friends at
the site who are waiting for us'. I told them the best bet
was drive right in. What they're really looking for is
Hi Acres Rd. and a backdoor entrance.

But of all the sorry straggler stories I've heard so far
this one takes the cake. This kid pulls up in front of the
house with his friend. Says they slept in the car up on RT. 58
which is evidently packed with cars. Then they came up the back
roads this morning. They're looking for a safe place to park
and walk IN. I tell them all they have to do is promise to vote
against Bush in November and they can park. The kid says 'no way,
I'm a Republican'

I couldn't believe my ears. 'What!?! You're a Phishhead Republican'
He says 'yeah, Bush is my man'

I looked him straight in the eyes and said 'Well then you can't
park here'. He looked a bit taken aback but after a little more
talk I convinced him that he could probably find a spot along
RT.5 just below Airport Rd. He said OK and took off down the road,
one Bushhead in a sea of Phishheads. Talk about your Phish out of
water.

The Situation So Far

8:15 AM

It's sunny and there was no rain overnight.
Karen and I are going IN today around noon.
We don't know if we'll be coming out.
It's a dirty job, I know, but someone's got to do it.
